Privacy
Draft, pending solicitor review. This isn’t final, and it may change before launch. Anything in [square brackets] is still to be confirmed.
The short version: no surnames, no photos needed, and nobody sees your phone number or email unless you’ve both agreed to swap numbers.
Who looks after your data
[Operator’s name and address to be confirmed.] Questions or requests: hello@gamefinder.rivver.cc.
What we hold
- Account: your email, how you log in (Google, Apple or an email link), and when you confirmed you’re 18 or over.
- Public profile: first name, area, level, positions, availability, how far you’ll travel, and your badges (games played, games organised, member since).
- Phone number: only if you add one.
- Activity: your posts, requests, alerts, notifications, reports and blocks.
- Reliability: attendance marks from organisers, your no-show count and any block. These are private.
- Technical: a session cookie that keeps you logged in, and your IP address and browser with each session. Web push details, if you turn push on.
If you use the “near me” option, your browser asks first, and your location is used to find games near you.
When your phone number is shared
Your number and email are shared only on mutual acceptance: when an organiser accepts you, or you accept them. Joining a venue slot counts as acceptance, because venue slots have no approval step. Either side can hide the numbers again at any time. Blocking someone hides them too.
What’s public
Your public profile and your posts can be seen by anyone, without logging in. Your no-show count, and any block, are never shown to anyone else.
Who helps us run it
- Cloudflare: hosting, the database and spam checks on sign-up and posting.
- Resend: sending email.
- Google or Apple: only if you log in with them.
- Plausible: visitor numbers, if it’s switched on.
- Your browser’s push service: only if you turn push on.
- OpenFreeMap: the map tiles on game and venue pages.
[Transfers outside the EEA and UK to be confirmed.]
Why we use it
To run the service you’ve asked for: matching you with games, sending the alerts you’ve set, and keeping the site safe. [Legal bases to be confirmed.]
How long we keep it
You can delete your account from your account page, which removes your account and your posts. [Retention periods, including for reports and backups, to be confirmed.]
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to how we use it. Email us to do any of that. You can also complain to the Data Protection Commission in Ireland or, in Northern Ireland, the Information Commissioner’s Office.
